This year’s 32 athletes were put to the test on August 9th in the streets of Yaletown.  A new champion steps forward... MARIA MAYWOOD accepts the FEMSPORT challenge for her first time and takes home the overall award followed closely by Meghan Callaway (2nd Overall) and returning vetran Wendy Lindquist-Pronick (3rd Overall).

A great showing of 8 teams didn’t stop the new team champions RJ'S ASSASSINS from making sure they anhilated their opponents by finishing 127 pts in the lead. An excellent victory as this is Lisa Stefan and Meghan Callaway’s second time on a winning team. In 2nd place was a last minute team entry by Steve Nash Sports Club (Alica Bell, Wanetta Beal, Aleya Gebali) who were being chased by Team Reflex (Wendy Lindquist, Julie Bilodeau, Tracey Tarbaj).

The 2008 FEMSPORT Street Party was a huge success and we would like to send a special congratulations to ALL the athletes. It's exhilariting to watch such talented competitors who display true athletic qualities such as determination, dedication and most of all sportsmanship! Your are an inspiration to many.

The sponsors contributions were more than generous. Winning athletes were showered with prizes from various sponsors; Fitness Town, Reflex, PVL, Amino Vital, Steve Nash Sports Club, Flight Centre, Athletic Women Magazine, Ocean Wellness, Kinesiologists.ca, FemFlex and many more!!!

REFLEX Vancouver joined the event with the GRAND OPENING of their new store and title sponsors for FEMSPORT.  A great match for both organizations.

Next time you're at a FEMSPORT competition, don't forget to check out how hard the special “behind-the-scence” group come together to make it all happen...the volunteer team is amazing. Their time, efforts and talents were put to the test and they came through when needed. WELL DONE EVERYONE!!!

Wow!  What an event.  This year's FEMSPORT was the best show ever, starting with the athletes.  The numbers grew to more than double with the introduction of  team participation.  Within that group of athletes, numerous new strength talent  was brought to the stage.  But nothing could stop our 2nd time Overall Champion ROSEANNE DESMARIAS from team FemFlex who was followed closely by a new competitor, Meghan Callaway who shared the 1st Place Team award with her fellow teammates, Miki Groholski and Lisa Stefan from Team Contour.

Even though the city strike presented a challenge as the Roundhouse Community Centre became unavailable,   Robson Square was a great venue for spectators to mingle through the various exhibitors booths while cheering on their favorite athletes.

Every year FEMSPORT only gets better with age and we can't wait to see what's going to happen in 2008.  Stay connected to their website www.femsport.tv to find out when the next exciting show is taking place.

Healthy regards,
Nancy L.

Another successful show on August 26th for FEMSPORT sponsored by BODY ENERGY CLUB and many other generous supporters!!  I gave myself a bit of a challenge by moving the competition to a new venue...Robson Square and it worked out well for all.

The new FEMSPORT 2006 Champion rocked the house with her strength and physique...EMMA CALLAGHAN proudly showed some true athleticism by giving everyone a challenge.  She was closely followed by Jamie Reed who made a rewarding trip from New Jersey, USA and, in a close 3rd was Angela Kromidas, owner of Pantheon Athletic Club here in Vancouver.

All the athletes were top notch and represented the event with impressive sportsmanship personalities both on and off stage.  Even though they were all competing "head-to-head" for the 2006 title, they cheered, motivated and supported each other constantly.  It was great to see!

Biceps Curls, Kettlebell Lifts, Obstacle Course, Tug-of-War, Routines and Physique rounds kept the athletes busy and challenged throughout a long day.

The show was filled with entertainment from KB-ONE Kickboxing, Code-5 Fitness, African Dancers, Ocean Bloom and a special fashion show from VATA Brasil.

Make sure to mark your calendar for next year!

The first show of the FAME World Tour proved to be a hit to the start of a wonderful year.  FAME West, which was held here in Vancouver, attracted an excellent group of athletes eager to show-off their hard work and get the season started.

The crowd was a non-stop cheer as athletes stepped out on stage.  Local media, photographers and spectators were awed by the competitors.  Even our special guest, Jason Statham from popular movies such as The Transport and Transport II, watched in amazement at the variety and talent of the FAME West athletes.

The athletes were truly an inspiration to us all, both on and off stage, as they not only showed of their physiques, they cheered each other on and supported one another back stage.  An excellent display of true athleticism and sportsmanship!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL....YOU LOOKED MARVELOUS!!

June 18, 2005

It's been awhile since I've had a chance to update the news section, but today will be full of lots of exciting news.

I just returned from the FAME Nationals in Toronto and I would have to say...what a show!!!  There was so much to see and do with all the seminars, workshops, exhibitors and of course the competitions (Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure, Fitness Model, Power Dance, Arm Wrestling, Obstacle Course, etc.)

As a competitor, I participated in the Advanced division finishing 12th overall.  Realizing there is still a huge area of "stage fright" I need to overcome...I ended up having more fun than I expected.

As for the rest of the BC athletes...they ROCKED!!  A special congratulations to Ocean Bloom who brought home the first WSNO/FAME Pro Fitness Champion award. Her fitness expertise and flare captivated the judges and audience with a routine & physiquie that fellow competitors strive to achieve.  CONGRATULATIONS!!!

November 26, 2004

We had an excellent turn out for the "Competitive Fitness Workshop for Beginners".  An eager and enthusiastic group of athletes spent the hours learning the basics of Fitness, Figure and Model competition.

Here's what people had to say....CLICK HERE

Our guest speaker, Tracy Holly (author "The Athletes Cookbook") was the highlight of the day.  Here expertise and knowledge provided everyone with a simple grasp on how to stay healthy before, during and after competition and in your everyday lifestyle.

Tracy will be returning in January 2005 at our"Health & Sport Nutrition Workshop".  This is definitely something everyone should attend (Personal Trainers, Athletes & anyone looking to improve their nutritional health).

October 5, 2004

I have sad news today...Marianna Komlos has recently lost her long battle with breast cancer and passed away on September 26, 2004 at the young age of 35.  Marianna accomplished numerous goals in bodybuilding, fitness modeling and the WWF as valet.

I had the pleasure of knowing Marianna through mutual friends prior to my fitness career and her expertise in the industry and encouragement were uplifting.  Even though I only had the pleasure of her acquaintance a few times, she had a very positive attitude and it was a joy to be in her company.

She will be missed by many, but her spirit will be with us forever!!

September 13, 2004

The 4th Annual FVF (Femsport Valkyrie Fest) was a success!!!

Congratulations to the overall winner...Trina Gillis...walking away with $1,000 USD prize money and an all-expense paid trip to the 2005 Arnold Classic.  Trina combined her 1st place win in the physique round with her 3rd place to capture the 2004 FVF Championship.  Wendy Lindquist gave her a "run for her money" as she placed a close 2nd as 2004 FVF Runner up.  Carly Roche and Rosanne Blackburn shared a 3rd place finish.

All 12 competitors proved their athleticism while battling it out in the physique and strength round, which consisted of dips, curls & obstacle course.  The obstacle course was a definite challenge this year with added elements (i.e. tires, beam, baton & sprints) combined with the 40lb water jugs.

This year EVERYONE walked away with cash & prizes and as an added bonus they all received complimentary FVF Athletic Tops from Femflex and a professional in-studio photo shoot from Fit Villa. A special thanks to Diana the Valkyrie for her ongoing support.

Just returned for the WTF (Women's Tri Fitness) in Vegas as a spectator.  I had good intentions to compete in this event, however, was unsure exactly what I was preparing for.  So...thought I'd check it out and cheer on some fellow fitness competitors and get an idea of what I'm up against.  There were over 140 very fit and athletic women.  Can't wait to be a part of group next year.

June 07, 2004

WOW...what a show!!!  FAME Canada was the largest show I've competed in so far.  There were approx. 65 competitors in the Fitness Category and every athlete was very impressive, which made it quite the challenge.  When including all the other categories (Bodybuilding, Fitness Model & Figure), there were over 500 athletes in all.

My Personal Best
I didn't make it to the finals, but I had a personal best in my routine performance...(I didn't forget it this time...lol).  The highlight to the whole event was seeing my parents in the audience beaming with pride.  It was the first competition they've seem me participate in and they drove their Harley Davidson across Canada (Alberta to Toronto) to check it out.  It was a very special moment for me!!

BC Athletes Rock!
Congratulations to ALL the BC Athletes!!  There were quite a few who took the "FAME Plunge" and did an excellent job showing off their western physiques and talents. Some of the athletes who placed in the top 20 were Ocean Bloom, Connie Sorenson, AnnMarie Budau & Linda Cusmano. (If I forgot anyone, please let me know...it was all a blur after awhile).  For full results CLICK HERE

May 15, 2004

It's only 13 days before I'll be in Toronto for the FAME competition. It's going to be one of the biggest shows I've ever been to and the talent is guaranteed to be top notch.

My training for this event has been a little "lopsided" and inconsistant, however, I wouldn't miss the opportunity to mingle and share the stage with some of the best in the fitness industry.

Wish me luck!!
